About Rachel, Founder of Ocean Alchemy

I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Even as a child my desire to connect to the ocean was strong. I’ll never forget my first experience of stepping onto an ocean beach at the age of twelve in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

During my post-secondary studies, I focused on Canadian social and environmental history and political science. I felt very drawn to our relationship to nature and how it shapes us, and how we also shape it. This symbiotic relationship to our environmental landscape brought awareness to ways we can directly shape and change our environment through our own perspective and embodiment.

At this time I was also deeply drawn to spirituality and alternative methods to healing on mental, emotional and spiritual levels. This passion grew each year and eventually became the foundation of Ocean Alchemy.

I eventually felt the ocean call so strong that I made Halifax my home. I found myself at the beach a lot and learned to surf.

I became obsessed with the sport and that desire expanded into spending a few years living on the shore and teaching others to surf. I oriented my whole life around the ocean and was blessed with a few beautiful homes in front of some amazing waves.

Eventually, the call of my dharma led me to transition into entrepreneurship. I co-facilitated some of the first women’s surf retreats in NS and it showed me the importance of community and connection.

Ocean Alchemy was born when I started working in the Akashic records with clients. These were very humble beginnings living in an off-grid cabin on the Eastern Shore. I kept moving deeper into my truth and transitioned into mentorship and teaching.

Being deeply immersed in the ocean for most of my adult life, I received deep coding and healing in the deep waters within and without. This primordial source ignited a deeper desire to serve and offer transformational experiences closely connected to the oceans medicine.

Being in the ocean in this capacity informed my internal compass toward what I now call the oceanic womb continuum. After years on the shore and in the ocean, the desire to connect with the wild inspired me to move to the highlands of Cape Breton.

The Cape Breton highlands has deeply inspired my remembrance. Living on this land has opened me to nature in ways that have shaped and changed my life.

The mountains, trees and valleys have rooted my work into offering experiences that include nature as a medium for alchemy and transformation.
